Alexander J. Durst, Esq.
My name is Alex Durst. I am an attorney practicing law throughout the greater-Cincinnati area and sometimes in other states (most recently Florida, Missouri, Nevada, California, Kentucky, Indiana and Massachusetts). I love what I do.
My area of focus is litigation. In other words, I am a trial attorney. I started my career working for Cordell & Cordell, a large family law firm. Next, I worked at Croskery Law Offices for three-and-a-half years, where I handled a variety of employment law, consumer law, and other civil cases (as well as appeals) on both the plaintiff and defense side, gaining a wealth of experience. I then started my own firm.
At the beginning of every case, I work with the client to come up with goals, identify any unique issues and develop a big-picture, comprehensive strategy. On this website you can read more about my areas of practice as well as some of the results I have obtained.
I represent both people and businesses in cases involving employment law, sexual harassment, business disputes, personal injury, consumer protection law, real estate, franchise disputes, fraud, and other areas. So far I have handled three civil jury trials, winning jury verdicts in favor of my clients all three times. I handled two of these trials by myself, as “first chair” without co-counsel. In the third trial, I was "second chair" with my former boss in a sexual harassment case where the jury returned a verdict of $189,000.00 for our clients, believed to be the second-largest sexual harassment verdict in Butler County history. My experience also includes handling appeals in Ohio and several other states. Representing both people and businesses - as plaintiffs and defendants - provides me with invaluable insight and gives me an edge in developing case strategy.
Currently, I am the secretary of the Cincinnati Bar Association’s Appellate Practice Group, which works closely with the First District (Hamilton County) Court of Appeals. I have presented Continuing Legal Education (CLE) seminars to young attorneys on how to take effective depositions and how to effectively represent non-English speaking clients in civil cases, among other speaking engagements.
I am completely fluent in Spanish, having lived in Spain and Argentina. Prior to law school, I worked as a Spanish interpreter in the court system. Since 2013, I have served on the Su Casa Hispanic Center’s Advisory Council, where I am also co-director of the Legal Task Force and a regular volunteer attorney.
If you are in need of legal help, I would be more than happy to speak with you. Feel free to call me anytime on my direct line at (513) 621-2500.
